Theater MoDak, unter der Leitung von Keumbyul Lim, macht Objekttheater, Puppentheater und freie Performances durch Zusammenarbeit mit Gästen. MoDak leitet sich vom koreanischen Wort "모닥불(Modakbul)" ab, das das Lagerfeuer bedeutet - Das altkoreanische Wort "모닥 (Modak)" bedeutet "gesammelteDinge". Theater MoDak streben danach, Alltagsfragmente, Erinnerungen, Sprache und Text, Objekte sowie verschiedene sensorische Elemente zu sammeln, sie in ein Theaterstück zu verwandeln und mit dem Publikum Wärme und Energie zu teilen.
Theater MoDak began die zusammenarbeiten bei das Blinde Sehen (Premiere: 2021) und im Jahr 2022 folgte Bruder Tiger. Seit dem Herbst 2024 haben Keumbyul und der Soundkünstler Tevya Bombieri-Morales diese beiden Stücke weiterentwickelt und auf verschiedenen Theater- und Performing Arts-Festivals aufgeführt. Jetzt arbeiten sie an neuen Theater- und Performance-Projekten mit verschiedenen Gästekonstellationen.

The theater MoDak, with Keumbyul Lim as a leader, creates object theater, puppet theater and performances together with guests. MoDak comes from a Korean word “Modakbul(모닥불)”. The old Korean word "모닥(Modak)" means "collected things." A bonfire is a metaphor for what we aim to create on stage: We strive to gather everyday fragments, memories, language and text, objects, and various sensory elements, transforming them into a theatrical piece and sharing warmth and energy with the audience.
Theater MoDak began their collaboration on Das Blinde Sehen (The Blind Sight, premiere: 2021), followed by Bruder Tiger(Tiger Brother) in 2022. Since the fall of 2024, Keumbyul and sound artist Tevya Bombieri-Morales have further developed these two pieces and performed them at various theater and performing arts festivals. They are now working on new theater and performance projects with various guest constellations.

Keumbyul wurde in Seoul, Südkorea, geboren und wuchs dort auf. Während ihres Studiums in Philosophie begann sie ihre Theaterarbeit an der Yonsei Forschungs-Gruppe für Theaterkunst. Sie war dort an verschiedenen Theaterproduktionen beteiligt, sammelte Erfahrungen im Schauspiel, der Regie und dem Bühnenbild. Von 2013 bis 2014 studierte sie Dramatic Arts in Davis, Kalifornien. Nach ihrer Rückkehr nach Südkorea arbeitete sie mit der Theatergruppe Eungang-Eungang (Schauspiel & Co-Regie) und der Musiktheatergruppe Gong-Tui (Regie) zusammen.
2016 kam sie nach Deutschland und studierte Zeitgenössischen Puppenspielkunst an der Hochschule für Schauspielkunst Ernst Busch Berlin. Von 2022 bis 2024 arbeitet sie als Puppenspielerin beim stadtischen Figurentheaters Chemnitz. Seit Herbst 2024 ist sie tätig als freischaffende Künstlerin und Puppenspielerin.

Keumbyul was born in Seoul, South Korea and grew up there. During her studies in Philosophy, she began her work in theater at the Yonsei Research Group for Theater Arts. She was involved in various theater productions there, gaining experience in acting, directing, and stage design. From 2013 to 2014, she studied Dramatic Arts in Davis, California. After returning to South Korea, she worked with the theater group Eungang-Eungang (acting & co-directing) and the music theater group Gong-Tui (directing).
In 2016 she came to Germany and studied Contemporary Puppetry Art at the Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Arts in Berlin. From 2022 to 2024, she works as a puppeteer at the Chemnitz Municipal Puppet Theater. Since 2024 autumn, she has been working as a freelance artist and puppeteer.

Tevya Bombieri-Morales was born in New York City, USA in 1990. With experiences working for the New York City Opera Company, Harmonic Ranch Studios, and interning for the sculptor Tom Sachs, Tevya had the chance to participate in many facets of the art world from performance, to installation, to post production studio work giving him a holistic perspective on the arts. Graduating from The New School, New York, USA, with a degree in contemporary music Tevya continued to develop this holistic perspective exploring deeper into the concept of interdisciplinary art with a focus on an immersive audience experience. Since 2018 Tevya has being living and working in Berlin, Germany.
Tevya worked on the sound design and music composing for “Bruder Tiger” and since 2024 he is taking over the musical performing for “Das Blinde Sehen”.
Der Gitarrist Sanghyun No wurde 1988 in Gimcheon, Südkorea geboren. 2011 kam er nach Deutschland und studierte an der HfMT Rostock in der Gitarrenklasse Nora Buschmann. Während des Studiums spielte er zahlreiche Konzerte und erhielt künsterische Anregungen von Carlo Domeniconi, Hubert K'ppel, Marco Socias, Alex Garrobe, Hans Michael Koch. Seit 2014 arbeitet er als Gitarrenlehrer an der Regionalmusikschule Malchin e.V. , 2015 hatte er eine Konzertreise mit dem Gitarrenensemble “GuitArt” in den Iran. 2016, zusammen mit Flötistin Chiaki Michishita gründete er das “Duo Umi”. Seit 2019 begann er seine Weiterbildung von elektronischen Musik und komponierte Musik in verschiedenen Projekten, sowie das Theaterprojekt “Das blinde Sehen” (2021).
